Screen Construction: Vee-WireŽ Welded Wire Screens

In making a Johnson welded wire screen, a long single wire is wrapped spirally around an array of support rods leaving a very narrow space between each wrap to create a continuous slot opening. Each time the surface wire crosses an internal support rod, it is automatically welded. The end product is an extremely strong cylinder with excellent column, beam, burst and collapse strength. The continuous slot opening, combined with the narrow face width of the wire, creates a very large percentage of open area in the screen.
